We are creating a large project at the Luz subway station in Sao Paulo. This city is the biggest and the most complex city of South America.
We have chosen this location in Sao Paulo because it is the perfect symbolic equivalent to the place de la Concorde in Paris where we have built our first Human Rights project. Like in our previous projects in capitals such as Lisbon, Paris, Stockholm, we will express very high design and human qualities. The project is made with extensive participation of thousands of youngsters from the underprivileged neighborhood schools.
In january 2012, our team is very happy to announce 25% of the project which is finalized as the second phase of the artwork. Cathedrals took centuries to be built.
We have patience.....
For LUZ we work with a franco - brazilian team of artists Françoise Schein, Tatiana Dalla Bona , Laura Taves, with two NGOs, Danyann Aprender Evoluir and Atelier Azulejaria, with local architects and with the support of the Sao Paulo Metropolitano, the Pompeia SESC, the French Consulate and the CMDHSP , the Human Rights Commision of the City of Sao Paulo, the Minsitery of Education and the Portuguese Langage Museum

Síntese do Projeto
Designed by Françoise Schein com Tatiana Dalla Bona
Since 1989 Association Inscrire has created large-scale collaborative public works of art on ceramic tiles related to Human Rights working with partners all over the world. Initiated by Françoise Schein, the ceramic panels are part of an ongoing project that raises awareness of citizenship and human rights through the creation of permanent works in new and existing public spaces, which also offers craft skills and training to disadvantaged communities. Public works have been created in Paris, Lisbon, Stockholm, Berlin and Brussels.
For the Estação Luz subway station in Sao Paulo, a series of ceramic panels on walls and columns has been created as a pilot work working towards a 700-sq.metre project to be developed in 2011-12. The work was made with the participation of hundreds of youngsters from various underpriviledged quarters of the city including the Escola Municipal de Ensino Fundamental Profª. Isabel Vieira Ferreira. The project introduced pedagogical methodology and booklets to enable future teachers to teach awareness of Human Rights.
The ceramic panels were created by a Franco – Brazilian team of artists – Françoise Schein, Tatiana Amaral, and Laura Taves, Director of the Atelier Azulejaria / Tile Workshop, Rio de Janeiro, and with the workshops of the art centre at SESC Pompéia; Associação Danyann; Sao Paulo Metropolitano, and the City of Sao Paulo. ‘Inscrire is a non profit organization that works with local populations in communities throughout the European Union and the world to conceive and create artistic works and events which highlight human rights principles and cultural diversity, and spark discussion and reflection about both.’ Inscrever Direitos Humanos na Estação Luz do Metrô - Françoise Schein and collaborators – Azulejos (ceramic tiles) the Estação Luz do Metrô, Sao Paulo, Brazil - Inaugurated 24 November 2010
