Association INSCRIRE

Who we are and what we do?

Inscrire is a non profit organization that works with local populations in communities throughout the European Union and the world to conceive and create artistic works and events which highlight human rights principles and cultural diversity, and spark discussion and reflection about both.

At the time of the fall of the Berlin wall, the artist Françoise Schein created the Association INSCRIRE as formal non-profit association. She had already built a project at the Concorde subway station in Paris. Conceived as a positive action, the project was reaffirming the possibility to create transversal links between art, ethics, urbanism and citizenship.

Little by little, the project expanded in other countries and it became a network of projects managed by a multidisciplinary team. Since 1994, new partners such as berliner philosopher Barbara Reiter, carioca architect Laura Taves,  belgian economist Katia de Radiguès and Portuguese political scientist Vera Ferraz are working in partnership with the artist on various projects in the world.

Because Inscrire collaborates with local individuals and institutions, the result achieved is a unique expression of the principles of human rights reflecting the values and diversity of the each community. The Inscrire projects raise the awareness of both residents and visitors to the fundamental importance of, and challenges facing, human rights, in their communities and around the globe.

The project TO INSCRIBE the Human Rights is an ongoing project which adapt itself to the cultural, social and urban conditions of each places and countries
