Workshop “Around Françoise Schein – Being an Artist of AIPOTU”
As part of the exhibition “AIPOTU” dedicated to Françoise Schein

From May 16 to August 31, 2025, the Grand Curtius will host the exhibition “FRANÇOISE SCHEIN. AIPOTU. A Portrait in Reverse”, dedicated to this internationally renowned artist, trained as an architect and urban planner, born in Brussels in 1953.

Françoise Schein is a committed visual artist known for her monumental interventions, blending architecture and art, ceramic murals, and other public works that create a network connecting cities around the world, such as Brussels, Liège, Paris, Lisbon, Berlin, Stockholm, London, New York, Ramallah, Haifa, Haiti, Barcelona, Rio de Janeiro, and more.

This exhibition is produced by the Cellule Architecture of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, in partnership with Grand Curtius and the artist Françoise Schein.

Curators: Betina Zalcberg, Lohana Schein

Workshop

Organized by the Museum Animation Service of the City of Liège, the workshop will offer participants the opportunity to create a collective artwork inspired by Françoise Schein’s approach to public space and human rights.

Creative sessions will be enriched by meetings with the artist and key local associations, which play an important role in her artistic universe.

The collective creation resulting from the workshop, reflecting children’s interpretation of the artist’s work, will be integrated into the Grand Curtius exhibition.
